After reported increased assaults by players in Central region, match officials in the area have now downed their tools.
Honor their duty
In the weekend of Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 September 2012, ten games failed to proceed in the regions top leagues; four Provincial games and six County League games.
Two sets of match officials opted to honor duty as they proceeded to handle the only two games that were played in the County League.
One of the match officials spoke to futaa.com to condition of anonymity and gave the state of affairs out in Central.
Lasted just five minutes
-The cases of assaults have increased and now becoming ‘normal’. Players are freely attacking referees and despite the cases being reported to the FKF Branch offices, nothing is being done about it
-We decided to down our tools at the weekend and until this matter is addressed and firm action taken by FKF, we are not returning to the pitch, he concluded
Recently, a County League tie between Gatongora FC and Paradise Lost lasted just five minutes after centre referee Isaac Alwala was assaulted by a player from the latter team.
Mugumoini vs Kabati
Other reported cases of assault have been reported in Provincial games between Matejagwa Vs Gathanga and Commercial Vs Kamunyu
The same has occurred in Muranga County league games between Mugumoini vs Kabati, Wakariko Vs Nyathiru and also in a Kiambu County League game between Mwimuto and Ngecha.
