Mombasa-based Division One [Eastern Zone] League side Admiral has thrown its support behind Ligi Ndogo’s demands for officiating reforms as the league enters its final stages.
According to the team’s Technical Director Aref Bhagazally, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) should appoint top referees who are fair and firm; they must resist any possible influence from the clubs.
Officiating crisis
-The league is
currently at a very critical stage. FKF needs to look further into the issue of
officiating in the remaining games, said Bhagazally to futaa.com.
-We support Ligi Ndogo’s call that their game (against Bidco) should be officiated by a referee from far.
-Officiating in the league has been a problem. Teams have been left very frustrated by traveling far, playing well only to be denied wins due to biased officiating.
-With teams left with close to six games for each team, FKF needs to consider having top referees for these games or for at least the top six teams in the division, he added.
Admiral, who are currently placed fifth on the table, shocked host Ligi Ndogo 2-3 when the two sides met in Nairobi, on Saturday 29 September.
