Changamwe based Super Eagles of Mombasa are currently serving suspension from featuring in the South Coast Provincial League after its fans beat up an assistant referee recently.
Barely two weeks later another occurrence was reported in a game between Blue Rangers and Gulshan played on Saturday 15 September 2012.
The South Coast Provincial Zone B tie between Blue Rangers and Gulshan at Ziwani Lasco was abandoned seven minutes to time after a match official was assaulted by a player.
Blue Rangers were leading 1-0 at the time of abandonment courtesy of a 74th minute strike by Alawi Mohammed Miraji.
The madness started in the 83rd minute when Gulshan players protested the referee’s decision to award to their opponents a free kick outside the box.
Center referee David Oronje flashed the first yellow card to Gulshan defender Ramadhan Salim alias Sonkoro for using abusive language.
Ramadhan was again given a second yellow card followed by red carded for repeating the abuses.
Angered by the referees’ decision, Ramadhan folded a blow and hit the referee on the face and the match ended prematurely.
Efforts by Gulshan players to convince the referee to resume the match were futile.
