With Inter Milan midfielder McDonald Mariga having opted out of the Harambee Stars set to face South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in a build up match on Tuesday 16 October 2012 at the Nyayo National Stadium, it has now been confirmed that the team will miss the services of another key player.
Action
Patrick Oboya, who plies his trade for Slovakia top-tier side MFK Ruzomberok will not be available for the match and will resume action for the club when they host FC Nitra Saturday 20 October 2012.
Confirming the news to futaa.com, Oboya said it was really sad that he would miss the game but wished the team the best of luck in the game.
-I had a meeting today with the Club President Milan Fil’o and he said the club would not release me for the match since it’s not in the FIFA calendar, Oboya told futaa.com.
Good luck
-I really wanted to do duty for the country but I have to respect my club’s decision. I thank Coach Henri Michel for the invite; I will be available for the upcoming matches and will be glad if called upon. I wish them all the best against South Africa, he added.
Oboya recently resumed training with team after long layoff due to a knee injury.
