Amwoka earns Ulinzi a revenge against Stima

Ulinzi Stars’ Evans Amwoka scored his ninth goal of the season to help his side beat Western Stima 1-0, in their return leg match, played on Saturday 14 July.

This was the same margin with which Stima won their first leg match, played on Sunday 6 May.

The goal was scored in the second minute of the match, after Amwoka worked well with a clean pass from Kevin Amwayi from deep within the midfield.

A relaxed Western Stima emerged from the shock-goal to keep Ulinzi back-pedaling and by the ninth minute, had the better of a 57%-43% ball possession.

In the 25th minute, Stima came close to scoring when David Otieno floated a clean pass into the Ulinzi box.

However, defender Geoffrey Kokoyo got in its trajectory before it was pounced on by the advancing Hudson Muhako.

The teams went into the half-time break with Ulinzi  leading 1-0.

Second half

Into the second half, Stima continued mounting pressure on Ulinzi, seeking an equalizer. By the 65th minute, they [Stima] had completely secured the midfield.

The few chances that Ulinzi got to break into the Stima yard were poorly utilized, with only a handful posing a challenge to Stima’s keeper David Juma.

Ulinzi defended their lead to the final whistle.  

After the match, Ulinzi move up the log to the third position, pushing Sofapaka behind.
