FKF Division One Zone B favourites Nakuru AllStars registered another emphatic victory on Saturday 14 July, thrashing visiting Zoo Kericho FC 4 – 1 in the match played at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.
Abich’s maiden goal
Noah Abich, recently signed from the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Tusker grabbed the opener in the eighth minute and even before the visitors came to terms with the early concession Sebastian Muchera notched his 14th of the season in the 11th minute.
Brian Mandela was then introduced in the 37th minute after former Gor Mahia striker Hugo Nzangu limped off injured and he got his name on the score sheet with a 54th minute goal as he lobbed the advancing Zoo goalkeeper.
Defensive error
With the scores at 3 – 0 AllStars were cruising but a defensive error shone some hope Zoo’s way. Stanlaus Akiya attempted a back pass but Moses Odhiambo intercepted it and kept his composure to beat the keeper in the 88th minute.
Mandela was however not finished; a collision with the Zoo keeper left the referee with an easy decision to point to the spot, from which the forward completed his brace as well as register his 11th goal of the season.
12 unbeaten
The win was AllStars’ fifth on the trot since their 1 – 1 draw with Timsales on Sunday 27 May and they also stretched their unbeaten streak to 12 matches as they soared second (on 45 points), at least before Kakamega Homeboyz take on Longonort Horticulture later on Saturday 14 July.
Zoo Kericho remain at 14th place, with 25 points after 20 matches.
