Division One side Mahakama FC has parted ways with head Coach Ezekiel Akwana.
Akwana joined the Kenyan judiciary team in July 2012, on a six-month contract, running out in December 2012.
As per confirmation by the Mahakama’s head of Communications,
Richard Otene, a consultative meeting between the club’s officials and other members of the technical bench ruled
that the coach’s position be advertised, as opposed to having Akwana renew his contract.
This, Otene says, is a function of the transparency that the
judiciary stands for.
-In July (2012), we urgently needed to sign a coach and Akwana was picked without necessarily having to compete for the position with other candidates, Otene told Futaa.com.
-However, with the expiry of his contract, we have opted to make the bidding for the position competitive. In this regard, even Akwana is allowed to apply and a technical committee will select the best candidate based on the qualifications.
Akwana, who branded himself The special One, has in the past served as the head Coach at Premier League side Sofapaka and the now-relegated Rangers.
