Africa has registered the highest number of entries for the 2014 World Cup. The continent has produced 52 teams except Mauritania who failed to apply for entry into the competition.
For the first time the qualification will be based on a knock out basis and the teams will be divided into three stages of preliminaries.
24 bottom placed teams
The first stage will comprise of 24 bottom placed teams in the FIFA rankings who will be pitted against each other and face off in a round-robin basis.
The 12 winners will meet the other 28 teams, they will be grouped into 10 groups of four each and the group winners will be involved in playoffs, five legged-ties which will produce the five winners who will represent Africa in Brazil 2014 World Cup.
Kenya is part of the 24 bottom placed teams in regards to FIFA ranking.
