AFC Leopards’ friendly match with Tanzanian Premier League giants Yanga FC, scheduled for Tuesday 21 August, has been called off due to unavailability of stadiums.
Revealing the news to futaa.com, AFC Secretary General Winston Kituyi said that they have been contacted by their hosts over the decision.
No stadiums
-I think Yanga didn’t have proper plans for the build-up match.
-At first, we were to play in Dar es Salaam but they later shifted the venue to Arusha which’s already booked for a state function. However, reports indicate that Yanga have camped in Arusha. They are said to be preparing to participate in a certain tournament in Zanzibar; that means they had other plans.
-On that basis, the match has officially been called-off. But we are planning for some friendly matches to keep our players busy, said Kituyi.
Leopards were slated to depart on Sunday 19 August for Dar es Salaam.
