AFC sets new KPL record

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) giants AFC Leopards has a new league record for consecutive unbeaten matches after the Sunday 8 April 6 – 2 whitewashing of a troubled Rangers FC side.

22 unbeaten

The league leaders’ win at the Mumias Sports Complex not only consolidated their place at the summit but also went one better of the record of 21 unbeaten league matches that they were until yesterday jointly holding with Mathare United.

Koops yet to fall

Mathare United established the feat in a run that started in August 2001 up to February 2002 whereas AFC Leopards last lost a league game on Sunday 24 July 2011, a 3 – 1 loss to Gor Mahia.

The Rangers FC win was also Dutch man Jan Koops’ 22nd premier league game in charge and has not tasted defeat.
