Aberdeen first hurdle for Scottish Champs

Reigning Scottish Champions Celtic FC, home to the on demand Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama, will begin its title defense with a home game against Aberdeen on Saturday August 4, 2012.

Conclude round one

The Celtic – Aberdeen tie is one of five ties lined up on the first day of the 2012/13 season.

A Sunday game for hosts Dundee United against Hibernian will conclude round one of games in the 12-team league.

Beginning at home, Celtic will also conclude the season with a round 33 tie against Hibernian on Saturday 6 April 2013.

A winner in just his first of four seasons 

In the ended 2011/12 season, Celtic toppled rivals of yore Rangers FC to clinch the Scottish Premier League (SPL) for the first time since 2008.

The title left Wanyama a winner in just his first of four seasons at the club since making a mid year switch from Belgian side Germinal Beerschot.
