The annual KYFA Ladies Nationwide Tournament concluded at the Kisumu Polytechnic on Sunday August 21, 2011.
According to the organizers’, the tournament had an impressive turn with 20 teams participating; 10 teams in the U-15 category and 10 teams in the Free Age category.
Victoria FC was crowned champions from either side after one team landed the U15 trophy and the other won the free age category.
In the U15 Category, Victoria beat Port Florence 3-0 in post-match penalties after the regulation game had ended 0-0. Anastasia Akumu, Cynthia Atieno, and Elizabeth Oguta all scored to deliver the win.
To have made the finals, Victoria FC saw off Kassagam Ladies 2-0 thanks to goals from Beryl Adhiambo and Beatrice Anyango. In the other semi, Port Florence beat Mbita’s Suba Lakers 2-1 after a brace from Mary Awino.
Kisii United pushed Victoria FC
In winning the U15 category, Victoria FC of Rachuonyo took home the winner’s purse of Kshs. 15,000 while Port Florence settled for KShs. 10,000 for being second. Suba Lakers settled for Kshs 7,500 after winning the losers final. All the three also took home a set of uniforms, medals, and trophy.
Despite not making the final, Suba Lakers produced the Most Valuable Player - Alicent Awuor as Mercy Adhiambo of Ring Road United was named Best Goalkeeper.
In the FREE AGE Category, Kisii United pushed Victoria FC to barren tie that stretched into extra time. But the team had to settle for second after losing out in the penalty shoots 4-2 with Victoria goals coming from Everline Adiye, Winnie Orimba, Eunice Msimbi and Leah Odhiambo.

Heading to the final, Victoria FC defeated Ibinzo 1-0 after a goal from Everline Adiye made the difference. Kisii United crushed Vihiga Hot Stars 4-0 thanks to a brace from Lydia Mogere and further goals from Lucy Moreri and Lydia Achieng.
Victoria FC got another Kshs. 15,000 for winning the category with Kisii United and Ibinzo girls taking home Kshs. 10,000 and 7,500 respectively. A set of uniforms, medals, and trophy was handed to the three.
It was triple joy for Victor when Eunice Msimbi of Victoria was named Best Player. Naomi Kinanga of Kisii United was named Best Goalkeeper.
