The EPL Drama starts Now and we have looked at the things that will make the new season as tension-filled as we have always known. Will there be a new Leicester? Will Arsenal achieve another league triumph?
Will West Ham’s move to the Olympic Stadium give them a new status? Will the return of Jose Mourinho mean a return to the big time for Manchester United? Or, will Pep Guardiola trump all in his first season?
The A-Z of the 2016/17 EPL season
The kickoff of the eagerly awaited 2016/17 Premiership season is less than 24 hours away. And to whet your appetite, we have compiled the A-Z of the new season that is upon us.
A – Arsene Wenger’s 20th season does not begin with the usual dose of belief. The supporters are in a cranky mood
B – Burnley have brought players from the Iceland team that destroyed England at the Euros!
C – Conte and Chelsea cannot afford another season out of the top four
D – Daniel Sturridge must stay fit to drive Liverpool to glory, well, at least into the top four.
E – Everton have new owners and a new manager in Ronald Koeman, who will seek to enhance his reputation as he bids to become the next manager of Barcelona.
F – Forwards may break the premier league goal scoring record in a single season.
G – Giroud needs to score at least 20 goals this season for Arsenal to get the monkeys off his back
H – Haka is a celebration peculiar to Rugby but we may find West Bromwich Albion doing such celebrations with the type of players they have in their squad.
I – Isaac Success may be the first striker to see red after picking up 11 yellow cards for Granada last season.
J – Jaime Vardy is still all about speed but he cannot [surely] score more than 20 goals this season???
K- Klopp needs to deliver at least Champions League qualification to Anfield at the end of the season
L – Lloris may finally led Tottenham Hotspurs to premier league glory.
M – Musa will have a great debut season and will leave many defenders pissing in their pants with his speed
N – Nolito may not win any player of the Month Award despite coming from Spain with a huge reputation.
O – Olympic Stadium is now West Ham’s home and could take a bit to get used to, especially playing in Europe.
P – Pep Guardiola is going after his 21st title in seven years and from many pundits’ pick, he should win the EPL straight away
Q – Quality of EPL sides in European competitions must improve drastically or they could lose one of their four spots in the Champions League
R – Referees have to do more on shirt pulling and blocking in the box, especially at corner kicks and free-kicks
S – Swansea must show mental strength to avoid relegation after selling their best legs – Andre Ayew, Ashley Williams, and Bafetimbi Gomis even though they have new money
T – Total football will be the cry of Pep Guardiola through the campaign as he hopes to learns fast that some games in the premier league are just going to be ‘smash and grab
U – Ulloa needs to do more for Leicester City as they look to defend their crown
V – Victor Wanyama must lead from the middle to help Spurs finish above Arsenal for the first time in the Premier League era.
W – Wayne Rooney needs to prove that he is still relevant for Manchester United and England by scoring at least 15 league goals.
X – Xhaka will help bring out the best in Arsenal’s midfield but the begging question is whether will he be good enough to help the Gunners win the title? A tough ask
Y – Yannick Bolaise will have a special season whether he stays at Crystal Palace or moves to Everton.
Z – Zlatan has checked in at Old Trafford and will be Manchester United’s arrowhead, at least for this season. He could be the goodluck charm as he has won the league in all his first seasons at his former clubs.
