I won't argue with the fact that he has coached Arsenal FC for many years and won a million trophies with the club.
He is among the best coaches of his generation and has done wonders in English and World football.
Because of him, Arsenal FC is a global name and a big club, especially here in Kenya.
I do not think I would have loved Arsenal if it was not for Mr Wenger.. I give him a lot of respect for what he has done in the game.
Decisions
At times though, he can make you wonder if age has caught up with him or just that his sixth sense is not the best.
I will take reference to the 2-1 loss to Chelsea yesterday.
The team selection was what we all expected, especially with the return of Thoma Vermaelen to the heart of the defence.
However, there was a puzzling decision, Laurent Koscielny in for Per Mertasacker.
A decision which ended up costing us the game.
In form
Koscielny was our best defender last season and he is a very good player and with his age, will be a world beater.
However, I rate Mertasacker because he is experienced and would choose him when we are playing a very good team because he does not panic and has a certain know-how.
But even more so, in the form that he is in, why bench him?
They talk about consistency in many things like results, but selection matters the most in my opinion.
Why bench a player in form in the name of a tactical switch?
Done before
I remember the story of Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh.
He was in very good form, scoring goals for fun, but then Robin Van Persie came back from injury and Chamakh was benched never to be seen again and the result is that he has never the same.
Same with Mertasacker.. why bench him when he is in form? It will not do a world of good to his confidence.
What makes it even worse is the way Koscielny played... It was disastrous.
Sometimes Mr Wenger???
