Blog: We have a poor league if we can lose a player of Dube's quality

Moses Odhiambo
When I heard that Moses Dube Odhiambo had left Gor Mahia, my heart fell to the ground.

A progressive player with a passion for the game, a classy fellow and one that the club will miss.

Dube was one the club's best players in the 2012 season and for me, the best of the best in the second leg, even though most will argue that it is Danny Sserunkuma.

He run the game from deep in midfield and worked his socks off for the rest of the team even though he hates doing a defensive job.

In my view, he was always the first name on Zdravko Logarusic's team list.

Why he has left the club I really do not know, but where he has headed to is where my issue lies.

If a club like Gor can't keep a player of Dube's importance and the player heads to a league that you can say is no better than ours, then there is something wrong with our football.

Our league may have sponsors and be on continental television but if we can't keep a player like Dube, then we have no substance.

His class and professionalism will be missed not just by Gor but the whole league. We need more model professionals like him around to help us improve.

Now even though he has gone to some small club somewhere, I wish him the best of luck in his stint and hope he can one day don the green jersey once more.

Kenyan football will miss you Dube.
