Victor Wanyama turned down an IMPROVED contract from Celtic-or so I heard.
I haven’t yet come across the details of this improved offer but I have feeling it involves a few million shillings to his monthly salary and maybe a life-time supply of kilts [ok, maybe not].
And he turned it all down-a decision that is reported to have gotten the Manchesters of this world raising their ears.
It is good that Wanyama now knows his worth and can even tell teams as big as Celtic where to take their few millions-and kilts.
However, he should know that the Royal Flush in his hands is only valid for some time. If he does not release on time he may end up taking some ridiculous offers in Mexico.
It’s football –you are the man today-Celtic are throwing the GDP of Kisumu at his feet, Manchester may come with an even bigger offer and so on; but teams are only patient when there is no competition around.
If Wanyama keeps waiting for a better deal, some unknown talent [maybe Collins Kisuya] may start getting the limelight, and before he [Wanyama] notices, his suitors will be trampling over each other trying the sign the fresh set of legs.
And that is how he will find himself in Mexico.
But it is his world now, let him enjoy it.
