Blog: Tusker FC: Despite all, I still believe

As football fans, we like to believe in the unnatural.

Even in the face of adversity, we like to think that things will be okay.

When the crack is as big as a City Council trench, we fill it with air and just pass over it.

And when we have to cross the Sahara desert to make it to the promised land, we will take it on without insurance and have great hope of making it.

That is a football fan for you.

Mixed feelings

Twice, I have been here making noise about my beloved Tusker FC.

Great club, fantastic players and a new coach who knows how to do his thing.

Big budget, Kenyan champions..What is there not to like or love? Little, if nothing. But lately, there have been cock-ups, plenty, starting with the sacking of Sammy Omollo.

Then to the continued fielding of players like Kenneth Wendo, Joseph Emeka and others.

However, you have to support the club you love, don't you?

Poor display

The draw with Sofapaka was one I felt badly about.

We, champions of Kenya, held and outplayed for the most part by ten man Sofapaka.

In the cold wind of the Nyayo National Stadium, I sat thinking and scratching my head. I twisted, walked around and wondered aloud.

What is happening to Tusker?

If there is anything, can and will it be addressed.

Terminal

I know that the upcoming games are not the hardest for the club, but the players on show and the team at large do not inspire confidence at all.

The strikers Emeka, Mukaisi, Wendo (who was even dropped) and others upfront, are in the worst form of their lives.

Against Sofapaka, they let the club down. They were an embarrassment to the cause. The second half was dubious and for some time, I even looked at Sabotage as a reason.

But there is hope.

Surprisingly, we could go top of the standings if results go our way and we do manage to somehow get on the scoresheet. If we can get Wendo back to Thika UNited, Emeka back to 2009, Ndege three years older and Mukaisi back in Western Kenya, then maybe, just maybe we will be there.

I am a fan

As long as the nine planets all align, then Tusker FC will win the league and if we are even more lucky, maybe the FK Cup. Who knows?

That is a Tusker fan speaking.. away with the analysis.
