Blog: Those that care left Rangers

It is usually interesting to read the sentiments of Rangers FC coach James Nandwa after yet another loss.

The way he defends his team and players to the core after they fall to defeat and looks forward to the future is something I admire because it is tough to be in their position, where things are bad.

I understand that they have had many issues and have had a really tough season.

However as an observer of the club's fortunes, I can say that except for a few times in the first leg, they have never looked like they have fight left in their lungs.

They have looked doomed.

Many changes

Currently, Rangers in my opinion have earned a ticket to the 2013 first Division.

They have not looked the same side especially after the departures during the mid-season transfer break where many key players left the club.

When those players left, they lost momentum and fight because most of them had been with the club during the glory days. They had enjoyed being a part of the club so played for the club with pride.

They were experienced and despite not being paid their salaries for long, they were very professional.

Now though, they have no spine and no team.

Lost

The other day, I sat close to a Rangers player in a restaurant, where he intimated to a certain group, I guess of his friends, that he felt they would not survive.

He was critical of many things, the management and other things that he says have cost the club big time.

I will not name names, but I can assure you that he is one of the longer serving players at the club.

He said that when the majority of players including captain Pascal Ochieng left, the club died because they were Rangers at heart. They were the only people who cared.. Not the club officials.. Not at all.

Right now, no one is a Ranger and that is why they will go down.

Die

Even he, knows that they are in trouble and will not survive.. Which is sad for a club that had so much promise.

What hurts though, is to learn that the people in charge of the club do not care anymore. They are just there to count down the days and then eventually move on.

Rangers, unless something drastic happens, will die a slow painful death and maybe, they will disappear.

Why? because no one cares deeply about the club.

Those that did, left.
