The dog ate my homework
When I was younger (I am forever young), there used to be one of those British radio soaps (I can't remember the name well) about some kids that were as menacing as Dennis (Sic).

They used to be all over the place trying their luck at being mischievous.

What they hated doing most was being responsible over their actions and own things in general.

In short, that show was where I heard the lamest excuse ever made... The dog ate my homework.. It was so lame it was not even funny.

I wondered thereafter if it was meant to carry a sarcastic meaning or was just plain stupid? I have never known.

FKF

What the lame excuse did teach me though (In literal terms) was to make excuses that were better than it.

From then on, I would think hard before saying anything that mattered and today, over 30 years later, I still think before doing or saying anything.

I will move swiftly to the Football Kenya Federation, which is the reason why I am here.

The ticket figures for the Harambee Stars- Bafana Bafana clash have taken ages to come out.. Over seven days to today. Don't they think it is a problem?

Now that we are used to seeing figures out the day after matches, we are bound to ask questions when we do not see them.. Especially when it is FKF we are talking about.. But do they know, or care?

Excuses

Seeing as it is FKF, who by virtue of being associated with Sam Nyamweya and not Sammy Sholei, already have a trust issue with every Kenyan, you are tempted to worry about what is going on behind the scenes.

You see, if it is any other organisation, then they can be excused, but not FKF.

Right now, Kenyans already think that the figures are compromised by a long way and that the main thing FKF have been doing all week is doctoring the results.

If you ask Kenyans about the numbers for the day, they will automatically say that the one's given out by FKF are lesser in some way..

Or the numbers are jut not the right ones.

No trust

I do not know what excuse FKF will give for delaying the figures.

If they say they had issues counting, people will say that the Gor- AFC Leopards derby match had larger numbers in terms of attendances and the figures came out on the same day.

If they say that there were fake tickets, no one will believe.

If according to them, the money dissapeared and has now been found in it's entirety, no one will believe them.

No one can trust them with money.

Act accordingly

As long as it is FKF talking, they will be taken for granted, just like the kids on that show were back then. They had an irreversible reputation and it stayed that way.

So when the ticket figures are out (Four million bob only) and FKF hold a press conference, their excuse for being late will be.. The Dog ate my homework.
