Having known and associated with them for many years, the list of ludicrous decisions made by the club can fill a 500 page hard cover book.
The list is so long that you can even wonder how the club still exists to this day, despite all the ill judged mistakes they have made previously.
From elections, to chairmen, to players.. But somehow they come back...
That is Leopards for you.... Ten steps forward, twenty back..
Sack Koops
So after the 2-1 loss to Gor Mahia, I read that the club is getting rid of head coach Jan Koops and the entire technical bench.
I refresh....
Same story, with added quotes from guess who? Winston Kituyi.... The man who has never produced a positive thing for the club, the mark of failure..
So I asked myself, what is wrong with Leopards, I thought they had changed their ways, felt that they were different..
How wrong I had been.
Why Kituyi?
I have a problem with the club because of three things.
One, why should such a desicion come right at the end of a derby clash, where the players did their very best to salvage the club's pride against a very good Gor Mahia?
Two, why was Kituyi the top brass official to say that? Where was the club chairman, where was the representative from Mumias Sugar? Why him?
Kituyi is the club's Secretary General, but for those in the know, he is just one of those people whose name has been linked with negative things all through the years.. Why?
And lastly, what are Leopards planning to do after they sack Koops?
Ill timed
First, Leopards are not out of title contention yet, they still have a good chance. Gor and Tusker FC who are now the top two, have to face each other.
If we win all our games and the two others draw, we are still likely champions.
So why sack Koops? five games to go, title chance alive?
Just has to be AFC Leopards poor decision syndrome kicking in.. The people in power making sure they show the world how dumb they are and how weak we are as a club.
Absolute joke..
Who will come in?
So if indeed Jan Koops goes, who will come in and really lift the club?
A local coach will not do, while even if we are getting in a foreign one, he will not have time, unless you are talking about the man at the Gor helm presently.
It is puzzling; the decisions clubs, especially AFC Leopards usually make at the worst times possible.
As a Gor friend once told me, we are only supportive in time of victory, never so in time of defeat.
Same old Leopards.
