Blog: Let us be peaceful friends

Today is derby day, the biggest derby ever.

Stakes are high, points are important at this point and bets have been made.

It is very tough to be in the shoes of those players and officials at the moment because they know that they can not lose, they do not have an option.

They represent us out there, be it Gor Mahia or AFC Leopards. They know that we are looking up to them to perform.

I dare say that I would rather do anything else that take on all that pressure.

Big game

If there was a game I would choose not to attend, it is this one.

The signs of trouble are always in the air.

Usually, there is so much competition in this game. The teams know that they can not afford to lose and that the fans will berate them if they do. The officials also add to the pressure by offering rewards and sweet nothings.

And that is for games that do not even matter, that have no significance.

This time though, it matters. It is a big one. The loser will lose big-time, the winner, will be in heaven.

Stay out of trouble

Last time, I attended the Top 8 final with the wife and the son, it was a lovely day, enjoyable, peaceful and a great day, a really good memory.

Most importantly, we won.

However, this game is the one I would have loved to take them to, to give them a chance to enjoy such a stage, to give them a chance to be at such an important match.

But with the history of this fixture, and the way the cards are placed, they will miss out because I fear for their safety.

The wife too does not want me to go to Kasarani.. Why? She thinks there will be trouble and fears I may fall into the trap. I may not come back home...

Prove them wrong

But as usual, I will be at Kasarani to cheer my beloved Gor.

However, I would like all of us to be peaceful. We should take it as what it is; a football match.

That is the reality, it is not worth losing your life for, being injured for or killing other for. No it is not.

We all need to go there, cheer our teams and have fun in a good way. Let us behave ourselves.

Keep peace my friends.
