We are at this point again.
I hate being here because it sounds like I am repeating myself over and over again.
To be honest, I am doing so; they say same script, different cast.
But because I am a fan of the local game and a protector of it too, I will speak.
Louder and louder if needed.
Nothing has been done
All season, I have spoken about the level of officiating in the lower divisions.
Nothing has ever been done.
Later, I spoke about the desicions made in the AFC Leopards- City Stars clash.
Nothing was done.
This time round, in the KPL Top 8 final between Gor Mahia and Ulinzi Stars, the same happened.
And nothing will be done.
Drop in standards
At the end of the day, what will happen is that the league's, belief in match officials and eventually our football will drop in standards.
That is in the long run.
For now though, we must ask, why are there so many mistakes by officials? Why is it week in week out? What's going on?
Week in, week out we hear of issues all over the place and now even in a cup final. But why?
For me, there seems to be no reproach over this issue. It is like it is being allowed to happen.
Match fixing ?
Is it match- fixing, or it is just pure mistakes made and coincidental that these things are happening?
What are we not getting right?
There is something amiss here, a thing that should really be looked at because we have to ensure that the people in such positions are answerable to what they do.
Otherwise, we are going back to where we were years ago, when all the results were decided at boardroom level and the game started to stink in the eyes of the football stakeholders.
Sad to say, but that is where we are heading to.
