So much has been said about bribery in the FKF Division one league but up to this moment no comment has ever come from the federation.
If they were really under pressure or interested in tackling this issue, they would quickly have asked for the proof over the said bribery allegations, but to date they have not.
On my side though, I can say that I have strong and incriminating proof about bribery in division one, which I will release at an appropriate time.
Back to the federation. You ask whether or not there is corruption in Division one and I will ask the following questions:
Questions
Question,1 - Lack of a helping hand from the federation: What help do division one teams get from the federation? Most clubs are really poor, with most being self sponsored and struggle to pull together a string of matches, hence your success depends on how deep your pockets are.
Question, 2 - Cheating and lack of trust: During the campaigns for the football office bearers elections, the present chair confidently promised to get a sponsor for div one but now none of the office bearers mention such developments. You can ask, who will accept spend his money round the clock without aiming at promotion and at the same time fail to capitalize on the loopholes that have been created by the federation.
Question, 3 - Lack of commitment: What actually shows the commitment of our football federation over div one. What plan do they have over this league?
Solutions
It is easy to say, but the below solutions must be brought on to stall the corruption that is currently a problem to the growth of the division one.
A sponsor must be found.
FKF must be committed to div one and give financial assistance where they can.
Football now must go to county level to reduce the costs incurred by teams.
Referees must take officiating as part time job, hence must be in another form of employment.
Referees must be well educated and more so with professional qualifications since illiteracy is killing the game.
Team officials must also be educated and learned; with minimum professional qualifications of certificates in different fields to promote good levels of understanding.
Everybody that loves football must have passion for it.
Conclusion
How much does one spend to play 38 games with a squad of over 30 players calculating the area covered from Busia to Naivasha?
Food for thought.
