Gor Mahia is one of the
Kenyan Premier League teams that is cutting the waves and euphoria with great stake when it comes
to fan following or as they call ‘’Gor followers’’.
Although I am not sure who they are following, my intellectual speaks for itself. Branding of merchandise with team colours and logo's not only increases revenue for the team but also builds the bond between its fans and detractors at equal measure and I give a standing ovation to the venture Gor has undertaken.
Question is, at what length
does the following euphoria stretch?
Branding the identity of the jersey with a
tag embedded Luo inside caught my attention and on this platform I would like to
get the meaning of the Luoinside.
What is the aim of the tag?
One should not question my sporting integrity because after all, that cannot be debated in parliament, but coming up with a kangaroo court outside the City Stadium can give the verdict which will be fair.
Does identifying your
team with the ethnic background have something to make the growth of football
in our country?
I am not the first to throw a stone to suspected adultery woman in the biblical story, but clarifying whether the new brand in town (Luo inside) is crafted to demonstrate the grass roots of the club's identity or it is a new catch line to make the game more spicy.
Whichever the two, one
will stand out among some quarters while the other may send cold shivers to
those who would like to be associated with the beautiful game only.
Different name
To make it more refurbished why can’t you come up with something catchy like Gor heart beat or Gor inside and that may sound more universal?
All the same entrepreneurship should be reflected in all fields, as money is all we are working hard to earn and it may open door for more caps, T-shirts and jerseys with the tag. But the core aspects should be whether to remain Luo inside or the corrupted one Luoinside with swag.
Keep the spirit of jaza stadi Na mafans.
