Sometimes, when someone is due credit for a job well done, none comes because there is a person blocking that path.
That is basically how it is in football.. One does the donkey work and others get all the praise.
It is called a team sport, where you depend on each other and the ones who do the flashy stuff get all the praise in the end, while you, the person who worked your socks off, gets nothing but your salary.
The theory of greater powers.
Gor Mahia on a roll
In recent weeks, Gor Mahia have taken the world by storm.
They have annihilated all the opposition that has dared step in their way.
The Tusker FC's, AFC Leopards' Ulinzi Stars', Sofapaka's and all the other teams have been swept aside by Gor with relative ease.
If it was a race, it would have been Usain Bolt against the others.
And if it was a beauty pageant, it would have been Beyonce against Susana Owiyo............. One sided.
Headlines
With Gor's good form, the headlines have shone on a chosen few.
Zdravko Logarusic, Rama Salim, Moses Odhiambo and Danny Sserunkuma..
They have been the darling of the fans and the media.. They have won every game, they have charmed the fans.
Superstar status has been theirs and they have grabbed it with both hands.
There has been no life without that quartet if you ask Gor fans.. No one has been better than they are.. They are gifts from heaven.
Good performers
But somewhere within Gor territory, there has been people worthy of the same praise...
Donald Mosoti, Ivan Anguyo, Solomon Nasio and others.. Especially Anguyo, they have been rocks for Gor.
Elsewhere, Teddy Akumu has also worked tirelessly for the cause. He has taken blows and tackles to make room for others to play and finish off the play.
On the technical bench, there has been Bobby Ogolla, he has been very important.
In the boardroom, George Bwana has done incredibly well, he has been a calming influence.
They have been the real warriors.
Status remains
At the end of the day, the status quo will always remain.
Rama, Ssebo and Loga will be the darlings.. They will be the newsmakers and the poster boys.
But for me, the rest are the real warriors, the real men.
They are what make Gor who they are, they are my winners.
