Blog: From a Tusker fan: You have to give it to Gor Mahia

Gor fans
I have to start on the right note, by congratulating Gor Mahia FC.

As a man (I rarely give credit) I have to admit that they have done well and are deserving leaders of the Tusker Premier League to this point.

Also, I give their head coach Mr Logarusic a thumbs up for a job well done, He has pulled off a masterclass.

To their players, who have been very consistent, I salute them.

Gor have been the standout performers of the 2012 season.

Played well

You also have to talk about their fans, who were yet again brilliant over the weekend.

Playing Tusker FC is not easy, but they ensured that their players were comfortable enough to do well on the day. They gave their fans a comfort zone in which to operate in.

And they took advantage.

Even though they scored early on, they dictated the pace of the game and limited Tusker to a handful of scoring opportunities.

They were in the end, the better side on the day.

Bonnie

One man I felt for was Boniface Oluoch, who was at fault for the only goal of the game.

If there is a consistent goalie in the Premier League, it is Bonnie.. He rarely gives out a shocking display and he does the simple things simply.

On Sunday though, he was caught out, I will not say whether it was a mistake or not.

He was just caught out and maybe it was one of those things that come with the job as a goalkeeper. Arnold Origi has those too.

It was just not his day.

Still in it

At the end of the day, Gor lead by one point and the league title is not yet decided.. Period.

There are two games left to play and anything can yet happen.

Last year I was a spectator in Mumias when we won the league by beating Congo United and I can tell you, we were close to missing out. Things just worked out in our favour.

So it is not over until it is over.. Not yet.

Anyone could win it, Gor, ourselves as well as AFC Leopards.

Matano

Finally, I would like to big-up Tusker FC for handing Robert Matano the full-time job.

He has overseen the revival of the club and given us hope of going where maybe could not have been in the first place.

Even if we miss out on the title, it will be because we made mistakes earlier.. Not because of Matano.

In conclusion, I still look forward to the last few weeks of the season... I still believe and I still hope. Anything can happen.

I wait till the fat lady sings.
