Primarily on Stadia attendance..
Now..... Unless it is Gor Mahia or AFC Leopards playing, you are unlikely to have a good number of paying fans attend a game.
If it is Gor playing, then you are sure that regardless of the club they are facing, you will collect a good amount of money.
Leopards on the other hand, are similar but slightly lesser than Gor fans in terms of attendance, unless again they are facing off with Gor.
Pocket friendly
The other option is unless the match is free of charge.
We can all remember how well the LG Cup clash between Kenya and Sudan last year at Nyayo did. The Stadium was full to the rafters... Why?
It was free of charge.
If a major event is pocket friendly, Kenyans will attend because, it being affordable is a motivation to go there.
Otherwise... Zilch.
Quality
The other thing is quality.. They will attend because of the quality on show.
Harambee Stars matches usually get fans coming in the numbers because there is someone to watch or look forward to like Dennis Oliech, McDonald Mariga, Jamal Mohammed and the likes.
They pay to get the quality they do not see every week.
Gor/ AFC matches are the same, there will be quality because of past rivalries or in the latest episode, something being at stake.
Otherwise, they will shun it.
Time
The last factor is time.. Where is the time?
Fans will likely attend a match which they will find an excuse to attend or have nothing else to do, so they go there.
Sunny weekends work fine, as do weekdays where you guessed right, Gor or Leopards are playing.
If you have Rangers FC play Nairobi City Stars on a Monday, you are asking for trouble...
Without those three components.... DISASTER!!!
Lucky
Very simply...
Harambee Stars vs Bafana Bafana at 1000 bob on a Tuesday night when it is raining and in the middle of the month.. You are asking for trouble.
I do hope I am wrong.
