The world's biggets leagues.... Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1, Bundesliga and the English Premier League are all but about to kick-off again after a break from action.
Despite having a long break, we have not been bored, as we have had thew transfer window to quench our thirst for action.
The ever present headline has been transfer news. We have had big and small clubs alike, spending their fortune on buying new players to inject more muscle in their squads.
We have seen marvelous players moving to new clubs and the question is, can they deliver? How about those who cannot? Who are they going to be at the end of the season?
At the end, at least every club will have its bargain of the season as well as flop(s) of the season.
New formations?
Many coaches will maybe employ a different formation to charge against opponents with various formations fronted like 4-3-3, 3-5-2, 3-4-3 or even 5-4-1. Will it help them achieve their goal of attaining a title, retaining, avoiding relegation, one that will keep their job, drawing at home or stopping Barcelona.
What will be the highest number of goals scored in a match now that we always have goals galore in every first match of the season? What will the new boys in every league have on the high table? Can they stand the heat and get at least a point at the end of their first match or be subjected to the bottom of the table with a massive negative goal difference?
On bookings, issuing yellow or red cards, will they retain last season’s penalties like the double clutch for red? Will assistant referees be keener to ensure referees give the right verdict off bias or fault? Will booking be used in containing racism in the beautiful game?
In the UEFA Champions League, what will the new faces do? How far will they reach, considering that it has been very hard for novices in the competition? Will they have the red- hot welcome into the arena of greats by being pooled among heavy weights?
Will Chelsea go against odds to retain the cup for the first time now that they have dazzling talents? Will we see other countries joining the final quartet or are having the lion’s share for Spain and the remaining slots for England and either Germany or Italy?
Messi-Ronaldo score more?
Are we going to have each league posting an increase in goal scoring rate? Will their top scorers have more goals than last season? What will the Messi-Ronaldo duel fair on this season? Who will have more goals and trophies? Who will carry the day in El Classico? Will Neymar come and make it a trio of greats?
In Manchester, who will finish ahead and will it mean one ahead will lift the league? Will Chelsea under Di Matteo lift it?
Are PSG able to win it this time round in Ligue 1? Will Milan out muscle Old Lady for the Scudetto or Napoli or Inter do it? Is Dortmund on their way to win the third consecutive Bundesliga title or will Munich, Monchengladbach and the rest lift it? Will Jose Mourinho walk over Tito Vilanova to lift La Liga or will he only pinch and poke and surrender the title?
Who will take the competitive third spot in Spain?
In the Champions League, will Mourinho deliver this time round? And if yes, what will be the trick used this time round from his mind games? Will Barcelona do it again? Will United and City pass their group stage and get further this time round? Can Arsenal advance to the Quarters this time round and evade Barcelona?
Which manager will be the first to be sacked? Di Matteo? Or will he perform to or beyond expectations? Is it Ancelotti, Conte, Stramaccioni, Anelka? But of course Wenger will be there after it all.
What will January transfer window come with? Will new players attain their club's ambitions? Will it be the time that Robin Van Persie leave or we will have to wait longer for his departure? Will Roberto Mancini sweet talk his employers to give in to his demands of having other players on board? Is Thierry coming back again to save the gunners?
Same old Balotelli?
We have had quite a number of players hanging up their boots and some gloves before due to age or deteriorating health complications. Who are to play the role come the end of this season?
What are we going to remember the season with? What will Balotelli say, act or be seen doing? What of coaches’ antics at the touch line? Is Luis Suarez planning stuff this season? How about player celebrations after scoring? What of the comments said before and after matches in their defence and attack against their opponents?
Finally who will be leaving Arsenal at the end of the season now that their best will always move away for trophies? Are they going the eighth year without a trophy? And if they make it 8, what will be used to make the fans happier now that they have used means in the past to cool down their temper by reminding them of 49 match unbeaten run, huge profits, beautiful game, emirates cup and unveiling Thierry Henry’s statue?
I don't know what will happen, but I have to say, I am excited at the prospect of the new season. Are you?
