Three months ago, not even a betting man would have guessed that the derby would look like this.
And I am a betting one.
I myself, the most optimistic a fan can be, would never have said that things would turn out to be this good.
But I have been proved wrong and mighty wrong.
When the new coach arrived, we were in a spot of bother. We were doing really badly.
Gor Mahia FC were the whipping boys.. The press, the rivals.. All were having their fun and laughing hard.
On the other hand, our rivals AFC Leopards were up there.. Unbeaten and talking like they owned the world. You would have thought that they were already champions.
Now it is our turn to do make noise and laugh and they had better watch out, it will be even louder.
When we win the derby.
Pressure is an underrated word in football, it is not said or put up in the light that it really should.
When pressure takes it's toll, nothing can stop the downward spiral that usually follows it. Nothing can slow down the moving train.
Just like yesterday when we stream-rolled SoNy Sugar, It was the pressure that told.
When Ivan (Anguyo) scored, SoNy were all at sea, despite the fact that they had defended very well prior to that. It was pressure that allowed us to score.
It is a position that Leopards are in at the moment. Pressure, pressure pressure.
Over the weekend, they have to go to Western Stima and in my opinion, they will struggle.. Why? pressure.
If Tusker or even Sofapaka win over the week, trouble.
Then the derby next weekend, where if they are not in their rhythm, we will go past them. Why? pressure.
I am willing to bet that it will.
