Let's be real here.. Football is not the type of game we picture it to be where people score hat-tricks and pull flicks on their opponents.
It is not where fairy-tales are made.. No Cinderella stuff here..
In the real world, it is a pragmatic man's game and not easy to fathom. It needs hard heads, quick thinking and good decisions all the time to perform.
There is no time for fantasy football.
Draw will do
This weekend, we (Tusker FC) play Gor Mahia in a top of the table Tusker Premier League clash.
If I were the Tusker FC head coach, I would play for a draw..
Why so, because the mathematics is simple.. With a draw, we stay two points above Gor and AFC Leopards, if they win their game will be a point behind.
Then we have some easy games to come afterwards.. (Well, easier than the others).
That works just right for me.
If I were Matano, I would simply put in a few deep lying midfielders and let Gor do the running. They are the ones who need the win anyway.
We can play on the break after frustrating them and the crowd.. We know how good they are when they are frustrated.
Is that easy? Not at all.. They will come at us big-time.. Very hard.
But if we can do what all the others have been recently.. Sitting back and playing on the break (We have players who can do so) I think we will be successful.
We rarely concede anyway, meaning our defence is not the worst.. I am sure we can take some pressure and a few blows along the way.
Take the draw
I think that if you asked Robert Matano what result he could take right now, he would take a draw.. It is the most logical result anyway.. Considering Gor are not going to lie down..
Plus, last year we had final day drama.. This year won't be new.. We will be home and dry.
If I were in his shoes.. I would take it hands down..
