Division One side Nairobi Stima were crowned the Madaraka Day Cup champions after seeing off Ligi Ndogo 5-4 on post match penalties on Saturday 1 June 2013.
The Cup clash from which the regular 90 minutes, that ended 1-1, counted as results towards the league was played at the Nyayo National Stadium from 1700hrs local time.
Ligi Ndogo struck first, through Brian Yator on 13 minutes after he made good use of a cross from Leonard Ochieng.
With 16 minutes to go, the Barrack Ouma Coached Stima leveled matters through Geoffrey Wangalwa off a cross from Kelvin Omondi.
The game then went on to penalties and it was Stima who prospered winning 5-4 to lift the coveted Madaraka Cup on the day Kenya celebrated 50 years of self governance.
With points shared at 1-1, both Nairobi Stima and Ligi Ndogo are tied on 16 points from ten games played. But due to a better goal difference, Stima sits fourth and Ligi Ndogo sixth.
