Nzoia Sugar FC landed easy points from their Saturday 17 November Division One match against Karungu FC.
This was after the latter failed to show up for the match on accounts of failing finances.
Speaking to Futaa.com, the club’s captain Roydick Odhiambo said that they had planned to attend the match, but they failed to secure logistical funding on time.
-I was away on a work-related journey and I was informed earlier today that the team had not made it for the match. We have been dealing with financial challenges and even though by the time I left there were plans for the team to travel, the team could not raise enough to cover for transportation and other associated costs, Odhiambo told Futaa.com.
After the walkover, Nzoia are ranked second in the Western Zone of Kenya’s Division One league while Karungu are placed 17th.
Karungu have now been relegated from the league, alongside Outgrowers, Yanga and HBC Mlimani.
