There seem to be dark cloud over Super Eagles midfielder John Obi Mikel’s future at Chelsea following the return of Michael Essien to the Stamford Bridge club.
Essien was loaned to Real Madrid and has made a return with returnee manager Jose Mourinho.
Mikel’s future is said to be in doubt as the agent who brokered the deal that took him to the London-based side from Lyn Oslo of Norway, John Ola Shittu is keeping sealed lips over reports of a possible move to Galatasaray of Turkey.
There were reports about interest in Mikel by Gala over the weekend, amidst additional news that his compatriot, Victor Moses could also be heading to rejoin his former coach, Roberto Martinez at Everton, Shittu has refrained from making any categorical statement on the development.
While baring his thoughts on the development, Shittu refused to confirm or dismiss the report, but admitted that Galatasaray would have to table a massive offer if they are to lure Mikel from Chelsea.
-'Mourinho's first order of business when he returned was to speak to some of the players, and Mikel was one of the few he spoke to. But everything depends on the club, says Shittu to kickoffnigeria.com.
-He wouldn't have been one of the few Mourinho spoke to if he wasn't in his plans. But this is football, and it is possible that if the club receive an offer they cannot refuse, they might consider it.
Dramatically, all unfolding drama round Mikel and Moses come at a time when latest information from Stamford Bridge indicate that the duo’s compatriot, Michael Emenalo was almost quitting his post as technical director of the club.
