Blackberry shows the will to bounce back
It seems we as Kenyans all got it wrong as far as the talent levels George Blackberry Odhiambo possesses is concerned.

When the guy was player of the year in 2010, he looked the part and played the part too and we Kenyans finally had one young player who we could call a standout, not just a normal talent.

Seems we were very wrong because things have gone haywire since.

He fell out at Danish club Randers for reasons that can't be explained, but from what I read on Danish sites and blogs, it is like the guy had no talent, according to them.

It was deemed a failed African project.

That aside, the young man has not had an easy time at it, having gone to Tanzania and doing badly too in a move again not devoid of controversy, and finally ending up home last year in a huff.

I do not know the player well but what I understand is that he wills to do well, even though he may not get it right all the time. He is ambitious and wants to perform.

Having played at the levels he has, it is easy to stop and give up and this is where I like him.

He has gone back down to earth at the Nairobi City Stars where you can't describe as being the fanciest of clubs by any stretch, but where he can start again and re-build his career.

Imagine Dennis Oliech or McDonald Mariga coming back home to start again... Hard to see.

I wish him the best and in my view, if he can be half the player he was in 2010, he can still take some bread home.
