Barcelona star Gerard Pique has issued a warning to Manchester United concerning his teammate Samuel Umtiti
The Frenchman has attracted interest from the Red Devils this season and Umtiti unhappy that he’s not received a salary increase from the Catalans. Umtiti has a £55 million release clause in his contract and Manchester City ace Benjamin Mendy claimed last week he was trying to convince the centre-back to move to the Etihad. However, it’s United that holds the greater interest but Pique has warned his former club that Umtiti is set to stay at the Camp Nou.
-Umtiti is a great player and we expect him to stay at Barca for many more years and for him to enjoy his football with us. To an extent, the buyout clause is made high so that you can’t buy the player. As time goes by, that fee doesn’t seem so high at all, but the player still has to want to leave. We’re very happy with Umtiti and I’m sure he’s going to stay here for a very long time, Pique said.
Los Blancos remain seven points behind Barca who maintained their 100% winning streak.
