Kenya International striker Jesse Were was on target once again as Zesco United beat City of Lusaka by a Solitary goal at Woodlands stadium.
The Zambian Giants were seeking to end a three match win-less streak against the league newcomers as their last three visits to Woolands saw them lose twice and draw once.
The match was headed for a goalless draw but Were made a difference at the 77th minute scoring the only goal of the match. Both Anthony Akumu and David Owino were handed starts in the match.
Zesco will now travel to Khartoum to face Sudan Premier League side Hilal on Wednesday 24 in the second match of CAF Confederation Cup.
Jesse Were scored as Zesco beat Smouha in the first match of the confederations cup and will be seeking to extend the fine run going into match against Hilal.
Zesco United are in group C alongside Angola side Recreativo do Libolo who have also picked three points and one goal..
