Sports pundit and football legend Alan Shearer believes that Everton marksman and the Premier League’s leading goalscorer Romelu Lukaku will leave the Toffees in the summer for a figure in the neighbourhood of £60m - £70m.
The Belgian, “hitman” who netted his 20th and 21st goal of the season when he scored a brace to lead Everton to a triumphant 4-0 win over Hull City, broke Toffees fans’ hearts when he revealed that he will not be signing a contract extension to stay with the club.
At only 23, Lukaku has emerged to be considered one of the best offensive threats in the game of football today and he is said to be the target of many football clubs in Europe, including English sides Manchester United and Chelsea.
An opportunity to play Champions League football is the major factor behind the star forward’s decision to leave, and the seventh-placed Everton will most likely not be able to offer the striker that opportunity in the forthcoming season.
