Livin Messi Kabon's goal in the dying minutes was all that Onduparaka FC required to pick their first Uganda premier league win of the year as they overcame Kirinya Jinja SSS FC at the Greenlight Stadium in Arua.
The match had ended in a goalless first half despite both sides blowing up some goal scoring chances but a moment of brilliance from captain Muhammad Shabaan, who weaved through the bunched Kirinya defense to set up Kabon. The victory comes as a sweet revenge against the relegation zoned Jinja side after Kirinya defeated Onduparaka FC in the Fufa Big League finals last season and picked a draw during the first leg in Bugembe.
There was however a moment of controversy for Kirinya after what appeared to be, a goal ignored by the referee in the 39th minute. A flying corner eluded the keeper and left him wailing for medical attention on the ground. Senkaba and Otim twice tried shots from short distance but the Onduparaka defense blocked just on the line.
Onduparaka reclaim their third spot with 29 points whilst the Jinja side fight for survival in the sinking boat.
