As teams continue to re-structure ahead of the new season, SoNy Sugar FC has confirmed the release of three players from its ranks ahead of the 2017 Kenyan Premier League season.
The South Nyanza Sugar Company (SoNy) sponsored team is currently preparing for the new season where the team will be looking to better its 2016 performances.
Club chairman Paul Orato has revealed that the club has parted ways with three players going into the new KPL season, among the dropped is former Kitengela Shooters and Sofapaka FC defender Josephat Oyugi who joined the club in January 2016, Jeremiah Wanjala who joined the club six months ago has also been shown the door as has winger Maurice Oluoch.
-We have released three players so far, these are players my technical bench recommended that we part ways with. Someone like Oyugi just went AWOL and you cannot include a player you don't know his whereabouts in your plans. I do not want to dwell much on the reasons for releasing the other two but I want to thank them for the service they offered this team during their time here and wish them the best in whichever teams they will join, Orato told Futaa.com.
The team is expected to sign at least six players this window before the new season starts as confirmed by club head coach Salim Babu.
-We need around six new players, we are currently talking to them and hope we will conclude negotiations soon. We have identified the weak areas in the team which we are going to strengthen this window, Babu told Futaa.com.
The team reported back for training last week.
